Come join Alison Parker as she conducts lessons in basic skills to help prepare students to enter the next school level. This tutoring is particularly helpful to fourth and fifth grade students as they prepare for the rigors of junior high school academics. The weekly sessions stress basic study skills, writing, reading comprehension, organization and presentation. Alison Parker conducts extensive one-on-one lessons that create strategies to enhance performance. This includes a thorough review of weekly school lessons.

Elementary Tutoring
Reading Comprehension Defined as the level of understanding of a writing.
 
English Grammer A body of rules specifying how phases and sentences are constructed in the english language. 
 
Writing Skills Essential for effective communication.
 
Math An academic discipline, and its supporting body of knowlwdge, that involves the study of such concepts as quality, structure, space and change.
 
Study Skills Strategies and methods of purposeful learning, usually centering on reading and writing. Effective study skills are considered essential for students to acquire good grades in school.
 
Organization Skills Having the ability to arrange in a systematic way for use or action.

Meet your Education Director Alison Parker always knew what she wanted to be when she grew up. From her early childhood days her goal in life was to become the best teacher she could be. Through hardwork, decipline and dedication, a trait she inherited from her loving father, she achieved her goals. Currently she is a 7 year veteran of the Brooklyn, NY School System and 4 year veteran of the Norfolk Public School System, located in Southeast Virginia. She has earned a Bachlors degree in Elementary Education from Brooklyn College, a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Masters Degree in School Administration & Supervision also through Brooklyn College, all while working full-time and raising a family. She is currently attending Walden University, finishing up her Doctorate in Education Technology. Her dissertation is focusing on using technology to teach writing. The oldest of five sisters, Mrs. Parker was born in Brooklyn, NY to her mother Harriet and father Ahmed Karim (dec.). She is married and has one daughter attending Brooklyn Public Schools.
